From the minute we touched down in the beautiful country of Barbados, I was sure this was going to be the trip of a lifetime. As we slowly started to descend, I looked out through the small airplane window to see Barbados- As beautiful as you could imagine despite the rain falling outside.
We had the luxury of staying with one of my friends at her house and if I had to do it again- I would never stay at a resort or a hotel! The experience staying with a local was completely different than anything I’ve ever experienced. We not only had the opportunity to do some fun toursity things, but we also got to learn about the country and go places we would never have gone if we had we stayed at a resort. Although it was raining on the day we arrived, after a long flight, all we wanted to do was jump in the sea!
We woke up the next morning to 31° and sunshine, after laying poolside for a couple of hours, we made breakfast and then made our way to the beach to go paddleboarding. We paddled out to a shipwreck and dove down to see it. After paddleboarding, we laid on the beach for a couple of hours and made sandcastles.
On Friday morning, we made our way to the top of the island where we explored animal flower cave. Exploring animal flower cave was an incredible experience, we went down into the cave and swam in a pool of fresh water, and touched little animal flowers which curl up when you touch them. The view from the top was beautiful as well and I would 10/10 recommend visiting if you’re ever in Barbados!
Here are some pictures from the inside of the cave, including the swimming hole:
On Saturday, We went on an Island tour all around Barbados. We explored so many new places and learned so many new things. We took so many pictures and made memories that will last a lifetime.
Here are just a few pictures from the Island tour:
After our island tour, we were exhausted! But that didn’t stop us from waking up at 6am the next morning for a hike up Chalky Mount. The hike only took us about an hour but in the heat it felt so much longer! The view at the top was definitely worth it and I think you’ll agree, here are some pictures!
After our early morning hike, we relaxed at Ginger Bay for the day and then set out to discover the Barbados Night Life-which will not disappoint you! Nobody knows’s how to party like Bajans know how to party!
In the following week, we had the opportunity to see Rihanna’s house, go on a Catamaran Cruise and swim with Wild Sea Turtles.
During our trip, we spent so many hours laying on the beach and relaxing, which was much needed after a very stressful exam period. I had the chance to read a good book, try new foods and see new places. I rediscovered my love for the Ocean and how much happier I am when I’m around the water. Visiting Barbados was more fun than I could have ever imagined, I created so many memories with great friends that will last a lifetime and I can’t wait to go back.
